Read Across America will be celebrated at Necedah Elementary during the week of February 28th through March 2nd. the 2012 celebration marks the 14th anniversary of NEA's reading program and the 109th birthday of Dr.Suess. The spotlight will be on Dr. Seuss's environmental lessons of The Lorax and a partnership with NBC/Universal's move, The Lorax, which will open in theaters on March 2nd.
In honor of Dr. Suess's 109th birthday, every student will be treated to a Happy Birthday cupcake on Friday, March 2nd.
To promote and encourage reading through the month of March, each classroom will have their own hall decoration for students to write down each book they've read, along with their name to display in the hallway.
