Last week we went on a field trip to Portage, Wisconsin. We toured the Old Indian Agency House, Fort Winnebago's Surgeon's Quarters, and the Garrison School. We lunched at historic Pauquette Park. This week in social studies we begin studying in our "Big Book". (That's our national social studies book.) We will focus on the landforms of the U.S. to start out.
In math we are getting really good at multiplication. We will do comparison problems this week.
Our story in reading for the week is an excerpt from the Laura Ingalls Wilder story By The Shoes of Silver Lake.
The weather is the topic of conversation in science.
In writing the students have been focusing on descriptive writing. This is an excellent tie-in with the Laura Ingalls Wilder's story since this author is known for her attention to detail.
