What We're Learning in Fourth Grade

In math students have been working on subtracting with larger numbers.
In writing last week the students wrote pen pal letters, Christmas thank you notes, New Years resolutions, and details about our vacations. We did a write, show, and share activity, and began a new spelling unit.
Mrs. Ledvina started a new health unit with the kids.
We began a new unit in our reading book called That's Amazing. Last week we read the Chris Val Allsburg story The Stranger. The week we plan to finish up Charlotte's Web which we started back in December.
In social studies the students have been studying how Wisconsin became a state. We have read the Germans made up the largest immigrant population in the 1800s. We discussed how this explains things still in existence in our state today, such as the name of our professional baseball team.
