This week in reading we read the story Grandfather's Journey. We discussed and tested on author's viewpoint and story structure. Our skills worked involved identifying subjects and predicates, alphabetizing and combining sentences with compound subjects and compound predicates.
In math we learned the properties of multiplying and dividing with zero and one, we discussed related equations and differentiated between group and array word problems. We also wrote and presented some of our own word problems.
With Mrs. Winters the students worked on their All About Me mini books.
The students studied the first people who lived in the place we now call Wisconsin in social studies.
We reviewed a, s, k, and l in keyboarding.
This week in science we took our first test! We are now starting Chapter 2- Observing Weather. So far we have completed two experiments. We learned how air particles react when they become hot or cold, and we also designed our own classroom barometer! We will need to take measurements all next week to find out if the air pressure in our classroom was higher or lower than the day before.
